401k loan (not withdrawal)
So if you haven’t settled on the property yet I would go all Redfin as opposed to real estate agent. I would look at comparing mortgage rates from SoFi vs a bank mortgage lender which you already have a relationship with as opposed to a mortgage broker. You def want to put down enough to where you don’t have to pay insurance
I have been adding money to my fiancee's roth (independently from our retirement) her accnt is older. My intention is to use some of the roth funds for a down payment. Really trying best utilize our savings to maximize our down payment. Now, we are thinking we are going to buy before the roth is 5 yo . She works in health care and we have been looking at medical professional mortgages but still trying to make heads or tails. We have a combined income of $200k but a limited amount of saving (masters, moving, etc). Any words of wisdom would be great
Check out citibank's HomeRun mortgage program. It is only eligible for certain individuals with extremely good credit scores and they only allow borrowing in locations with select criteria. 5-20% down, no PMI. Hope this helps.
I have to agree, most real estate agents are useless. I would get quotes from 3-4 banks and compare rates and then see if they would match each other’s rates. If you need to, buy up points to reduce your rate (you should know what points are by now if you’ve been looking for a house)
also considering a CD but unsure i want that money tied up in case an opportunity comes up that we want to jump on
Join the army. Get a no PMI zero down VA loan.
What state are you planning to live in OP?
Atlanta
Thanks for the advice.
Yes. I am familiar w/ buying points. Thank yall for the input. I appreciate it. (Sidenote: the whole concept of having the option to buy "points" seems so bizarre to me)
@a1 Thanks! I was not aware of that program.
