OP it is against policy to charge on a card that isn't your corporate Amex
It is.

I gotcha, I WOULD LOVE to be able to put hotel charges on an SPG or Marriott cc, etc.
Yes, correct. Its for personal use. Thanks, all!
Credit card insurance doesn’t provide liability coverage. Please don’t sacrifice your financial future by relying on it alone. You need real coverage from the rental co or your own auto insurance
Agree with BCG 1. I had a pretty serious accident once while using CC insurance alone and I about had a nervous breakdown waiting for enough time to pass to be sure I wasn't going to be sued for liability for the other person's medical and car damages. You'll be better protected in a No Fault state but I don't think there are many of those anymore.
Possible to charge on one card at time of pickup and request they change it to another card after returning.
You are correct.
Yes
I do this every time. Just let them know you want to switch cards. It's a bit of a pain when dropping off at certain airports that have you leave the keys and send the receipt later.
I know at Accenture expense enforcement is loosey goosey but at D they will flag you if your (especially travel) expenses are coming through as manual.
That's fair D1. No reason to argue here. Different company different policies. I was speaking strictly from a "how to do it" perspective.
Considering OP is asking about this for insurance benefits, I assume he's asking for a personal (not business) rental.
