I go back and fourth on this. A lot of people say charge separately. But I also think including it in the AUM fee helps allow you to defend your fee as we continue to see fee compression. Because of that I lean toward adding it in for the clients that want it as a value add. Smaller accounts however get a more simplified plan normally based around cash flow in retirement.
I charge $1000 minimum if there is no AUM.If they want me to manage assets, then it is a "value added service". - no charge for the plan.I firmly believe that planning is just as essential for us as it is for the client. I can learn tons about a client by really digging into their life. It helps me give better advice and it also solidifies the relationship.
$225 per hour on initial and ongoing retainer.
$1,200 for the initial plan and $600 every time they want to go back over it and update it. It's free if they have a certain amount of money under management with me. (which varies depending on what they actually have) Most of the time if they have $150,000+, it'll be included and below that it will be prorated. So if they have $75,000, it might only be $600 and free reviews ongoing.
