A BCG recruiter ghosted me after she reached out to schedule an interview. How long should I wait before following up? What is the common courtesy to give to ppl at BCG. I don’t wanna come off as too aggressive but I really need to get this interview set as there are other pending confirmations Boston Consulting Group

I teach there. A few thoughts:
You’ll probably see comments ranging from “ad school in general more favorably,” to “it doesn’t really matter, if you’re good you’re good,” to “less favorably, they’re taught to think about ideas that are good for their books instead of their brands, the school isn’t super selective, and a lot of them are highly privileged who bought a chance at working in advertising.”
All of those have some truth. But, cynicism aside, I veer toward the second answer. Because the school isn’t incredibly selective, there’s a huge range of talent level and effort level. Ad schools provide the tools and tutorials, but ultimately students either put the work in or they don’t, and their opportunities and creative futures vary widely by their effort level. Also, advertising needs to figure out more and more ways to provide the tools, network, tutorials, and mentorship to people who don’t come from highly privileged backgrounds or don’t want to go thousands of dollars into debt for a career that is anything but a certain bet

SC1 gave great feedback. Also take a look into SVA’s continuing education and Adhouse. Both are offering classes online.
Went to MASE with people from all different backgrounds with a range of skill level. Enrollment is easy as they take anyone who can pay/not selective.

If you send it to a MAS grad they will probably take a look more so than someone who didn’t.
A VCU book regardless though.

I don’t generally look at MAS books unless I’m truly bored. Haven’t in years. The program isn’t selective at all and it’s expensive, so it’s a recipe for over privileged twats.
VCU, SVA, MASE, BYU
But really mostly the first two.
But mostly I focus on people who have more interesting backgrounds now. Arts majors, d school types, music people, etc.
Younger people coming up are far more creatively experienced than people in my generation. They’re far more likely to have made video, music, digital stuff, hell even just memes. Which makes ad school less important.

Why MASE and not MAS?
When you're talking people trying to get their first-gig, graduates of the major portfolio schools are more likely to get a more in-depth look. They've put in time to learn (hopefully) and have been mentored (hopefully) by good (hopefully) professionals.
Past the first gig, doesn't matter a hoot.
