I didn't find it cringe-anything. OP is pointing out that getting rejected from a job application is not the end and to keep pressing on. It doesn't come off as celebrating being unsuccessful. Possibly take another read.
Agreed! I don’t think it’s cringe-worthy at all. The only way it would be is if it used the feature to “celebrate an occasion”.
Ppl are struggling on the job market. I know someone who got laid off and haven’t found anything in 6 months so a lot of people could identify with this and it could bring them comfort and hope.
I think if anyone finds this cringe they should probably not be on LinkedIn to begin with…
What energy could he possibly be expending on a job while he’s waiting to hear back…
I didn't imply you didn't work hard to get where you are. I'm simply stating that you would have gone from some type of associate and then climbed the corporate ladder to get to VP status without possible gaps of unemployment. When was the last time you were unemployed and for how long?
There’s way cringier stuff on LinkedIn than some lame sales mantra
To be clear, my issue is not that he's posting about the job market being hard - we know it is and we've all been there.
To me, the cringe is pretending every rejection is a good thing because it's one step closer to some mythical destination. If he said something about the job market being a clusterfuck and remaining determined, I'd agree and have a lot of sympathy/understanding.
Of course, I may be wrong to call this cringe.
He’s being encouraging. Positive. Optimistic. How is that cringe? lol
