How long ago was your charge?
I had a DUI in college in 2007, applied for GE in 2015 and got rejected.
My colleague had 2 DUIs in the 90s and I think he applied in 2013 and got it with no issues. So I think it's based on how long it's been, but I haven't been able to find exactly how long. I was thinking of applying next year since it'll have been over 10 years and hoping that that's the cutoff.
Yes. Don't lie. Lying is automatic DQ and illegal. Answer the questionnaire and interview faithfully.
They only ask about felonies and violent crimes right?
Don't remember the questionnaire. Everything is fair game in interview.
They revoked my Global Entry after a DUI, but will only check if you actually use the GE kiosks (in other words, if GE is your sole source of TSA Precheck, stop going through GE lines and you’ll be able to keep it). Got rejected when I tried to reapply to GE post-DUI but TSA Precheck application went through.
This is from CBP:
Can I be admitted into the U.S. if I have either a misdemeanor or criminal record (for example a DUI)?
The U.S. does not deny entry to persons with a "Driving Under the Influence" (DUI) conviction, although if there are multiple convictions for this and or other misdemeanors, you could be denied entry.
Generally, any convictions for drug possession can result in denial of entry. If the conviction was long ago, you might contact the U.S. Embassy, Office of Consular Affairs in your country to obtain a waiver. Other misdemeanors may result in denial if they were recent.
A crime of moral turpitude (CIMT) may be grounds to deny entry to the U.S. For a list of crimes; please click here.

Nevermind , I read that as global entry. This is about general entry
When I got hired at EY, the HR person made a comment about my minor consumption of alcohol when I was 16 saying “we almost didn’t hire you because of our policies.” She then made it sound like you can’t get hired at EY with a DUI.
You have to appeal it. They just want you to jump through hoops. I did it. Got denied. Appealed it and got GE approved. Took two months.
5years
Appeal it and write a letter. Speak to your job school etc etc
