What % of time does your Comms Plan / Strategy actually dictate the output of your media team's work? At my best, I feel like my work influences less than 20% of the resulting media plan, which feels discouraging.

I recognize that no one is immune to budget cuts, client feedback, and bureaucracy. But sometimes, I see that the approved media plan/ tactics are so divorced from Strategy that I wonder what I'm even doing. Anyone else feel this way?

I'm new to marketing and I am not formally educated in it. I have just been learning through experience with the business. I'm supposed to put together a Market report for our sales team to refer to but I have been stuck on what I even include. I have an expensive subscription to a reporting database and I am supposed to translate these technical reports into 20-30 slides. I can't figure out if I am overthinking something simple or lacking some knowledge that people formally learn in school.
