Hmm where are you now OP? Vancouver does offer beautiful scenery and proximity to ocean if that’s your thing
Also side note - any chance you can share more about your experience working at providers? I’m thinking of doing the same :)
Thank you! Just messaged. And wow Hawaii will be hard to beat w your setup 😅
I guess I'm confused on how your husband is depressed living in Hawaii, and how a move to Canada will make things better? I just don't know if moving from one location to another will really change that. Maybe you should look into help/guidance for him?
I'd also say that there's a lot of variety within the US so, if Hawaii isn't necessarily the place you both see long-term, then you could look into other US states.
Don’t
Just don’t. Nothing will satisfy you!
Sigh 😔. My husband is Canadian and he’s depressed here. The only positive about potentially moving there is the parental leave
Do not move to Canada. Worst decision you could possibly make. I am a dual citizen born in the US and have lived in both countries for over 15 years each.
I live in NYC.
You’ll have to take a pay cut. Vancouver pays criminally low.
Echo other people’s comments! I’m an immigrant with PR living in BC and planning to go back to my home country!
BCG1: looks like India
They will tax you to death!
Why are you asking? Don't you have family and friends you can talk to?
Yeah I have very biased Canadian in-laws lol
How much salary can I expect in Vancouver? I’ve seen ranges of 80-120k maxes of 140k (rare) is this real?? When I search for roles that make 200k+, it shows me exec / C suite roles - this can’t be right?
As KPMG 1 said, they are obsessed with Canadian experience. It confounds me really. There is nothing special about the Canada market that outsiders can't come in and learn within few weeks.
I love it here at Vancouver! Best decision ever. Moved from NY. I was making 240 as senior manager in the US. I make 265 TC as director in Canada

Cost of living is astronomical compared to most cities. If you love winter sports and hiking, beaches and mountains, then there may be aspects of the lifestyle which you find very appealing.
Sounds like my dream...live in Canada and make 190k.
Why would you have to move? That's a red flag.
It’s better to be homeless in the US than to move to godforsaken Canada.
And Canada worships illegal immigrants and refugees more than the US. Tax payer money will fund everything including one time payouts of thousands of dollars, a year full of rent and low income housing, and state sponsored drugs so you don’t have to be stuck buying low quality drugs from street dealers. Laws are laughable (a person arrested for shooting someone in a mall in broad daylight was given 1 year of home confinement where he is allowed to watch Netflix and go out for hours at a time)
If you are making 190K base at AD level, then I can confidently say that you are pretty high and above the upper threshold of compensation at Cognizant. The standard range is about 130-150K base, based on what I’ve seen.
Hey, your story sounds similar to mine. I moved to Vancouver from Seattle after I decided to leave BCG (to be closer to my in-laws). Most of my consulting experience was in HC so I looked for medtech/biopharma opps here, but it took me a while to find a decent opportunity (now work for a large US biopharma remotely but get paid in CAD). Feel free to DM me. Happy to connect if you want to chat.
