You should pitch an idea around radio, print, and billboard ads, just to see how they react.
I wouldn't be surprised if they actually got on board with that lol
At an agency?? How do they have any clients? Why did they hire you then?
Yes, so it's a local agency that's been around for a looong time. I'm guessing their way of doing things has been working for a while, so maybe they're having a hard time adapting to the changing landscape? I'm thinkning it's better to get out before it sinks
What kind of work do you all do then? What kinds of ideas are they just shutting down out of hand?
Well, the agency has been working with local businesses for a few decades and it seems like they still rely on more "traditional" tactics and haven't had to evolve much. We don't really propose anything too crazy just basic digital marketing things like using facebook ads and desginign ads for other social media. Not to be rude, but we suspect the age might be getting to them a bit
Your agency's creative directors are clearly out of touch with today's digital landscape, I can't imagine what they are thinking about shutting down your ideas if they don't know anything about how things are currently done in the industry
Show the exponential growth of agencies that have evolved from their practices to what is being done today, don't attack them directly but ask how their ideas can be pitched in the new world, you'd be surprised what a mixed team can accomplish.
I recommend using examples of how brands used to show themselves and how they do it now, for example, how Pepsi or Audi, companies of that caliber, do it.
True, companies like that invest a lot of money to have the best practices possible so they can't deny their validity
Sounds like the oldhead are back at it again with their backwards ways
