Crime has plummeted nationally year-over-year and since ICE activity has picked up. Year-over-year murder is down 17%, sexual assault is down 10%, and carjacking is down 24%. It's no stretch to say that thousands of people have been saved from being victims of violent crime since these crackdowns have started.

Source? On the surface you're acknowledging plummeting crime rates and then attributing specific reductions in Chicago (presumably) to the ICE "crackdowns" and referencing year-over-year numbers for a relatively recent set of activities which candidly makes me highly skeptical of any causative factor between your statistics and the ICE/CBP activity. Meanwhile, it appears violent incidents between law enforcement and citizens are way up (the apartment raid alone was dozens if not hundreds of instances).

Yeah EY all of OPs replies are really reinforcing the “average American reads at a 5th grade level.” Tech-driven polarization is real. Hope you and yours are safe in Chi - I’m done arguing with this particular pigeon ✌️.

like

What an insane conclusion. You mean the Nannies and Lawncare workers being kidnapped on the north shore by ICE has lowered violent crimes?

likesmartfunny

OP you’re dodging the point. Nannies and lawn care have been detained by plain clothes officers without a valid warrant, while they were just doing their jobs (ie not committing crimes). Some of these people are even US citizens. This does not lower crime in the US, and is an overreach. Do you agree?

So continuing the trend that has existed for the past 4 years?

like

That was my thought. Crime continues a downward trend, and is probably not as low as it would have been if the jackboots weren't running around cosplaying Gestapo. But hey, some people have to find out the hard way.

like

Crime has been going down for 2+ decades. It was at near historical lows before ICE or anyone showed up. Read the book Copaganda and stop parroting nonsense.

likesmart

I gave a book you can read. They talk about Chicago specifically on multiple occasions. 2020 saw a spike across the board relative to those lows you saw in 2015. Since 2020, crime has gone down every year with the two largest drops the past two years.

Anyone who grew up in Chicago and actually remembers high crime in cities throughout the late 80's, early 90's, looks at your original post puzzled.

My favorite is you confirm what I said... "historical lows before ice showed up" with your historic lows in 2015.

And yet OP still hasn't sourced their alleged statistics

Thank you, ICE!

Wait until we catch up on documenting all the violent crimes against people that have taken place since ICE came in. Disappeared people are having a hard time filing police reports at the moment, but eventually it will all come to light…

like

It’s almost like, if you export the third world, the barbaric culture goes with it 💀

And how many miscarriages happened in ICE facilities?

Those crackdowns are violent crimes.
So I'm sorry to say they simply label them otherwise and pass it as legal, but they are not. They are illegally detaining children, illegally deporting people and illegally beating them up and putting them in illegal prisons.
But since this isn't "crime" then it's easy to say that crime has been down. Although I highly doubt any of those stats are legit in the slightest and I could continue on how easy it is to manipulate them

Studio. Sure you can manipulate stats. But not murder stats. As they are black and white.

Even so, the democrats even cite these numbers +- a few points. So you claim that these stats are legit or that crime isn’t down is either ignorance or your refusal to believe them.

What is illegal about arresting someone who is here illegally?

I am generally uncomfortable when I’m around my mother-in-law’s husband.

While he is overall a decent guy, his anger issues, yelling at his wife for the slightest issue, and insulting nature makes me uncomfortable and triggers my own anger due to his blatant disrespect for just about everyone around him.

My mother-in-law says he’s worked on things, but it’s been 10 years of this and I’m not sure I want such behavior around my wife and our kids since we’re trying to conceive soon (cont).

Found a random engagement ring.

Hi all, so I found a platinum ring (which I assumed it's an engagement ring as it has dates and initials engraved on top.) And a Divvy tag (I have no idea what it was until I googled it. Apparently it's a bike sharing service in Chicago) in a briefcase I ordered online. I was thinking of returning the item back to the store but that wouldn't help the person who lost the ring. Attached is a picture of them.

What should I do now?
