Currently having testing experience, is it good idea to switch into system engineering or software engineering?

Yes, indeed a good choice, if you get an opportunity in. System Engineer,

Software Engineer is usually Integration or development role which is collectively called so... For development experience in any one stack of Autosar Architecture would be good. For integration nothing much is required like Developer, but they expect good tool, scripting etc skills

Since your background is from test, it would be bit easier to understand System Engineer topic, also prepare requirement engineering....try to prepare and certificate IREB

All the best

go for it. If you're talking about embedded systems it is always a better choice for overall career enhancement to have Test+System Engineering. You can later grow in other roles

Advice on applying to PM jobs with 1yr APM experience?

I’ve been working as an APM at my current company for 1yr, and have basically been doing the work of a full blown PM the entire time. I’ve lead several features from start to finish and made sure to mention in my resume that I have been doing everything a regular PM does. Has anyone ever hired an APM for a PM role or done it yourself? Any tips? Advice?

I am in a tech IC position. One of friends switched to FAANG by converting the profile to consultant profile. The friend who might have less tech knowledge than me is now in FAANG and earning more. If the end goal would be that the friend might one day be a product manager and me an engineering manager taking instructions from the same friend, isn't consultant profile an easier path to growth. I had been practising DSA for years and the competition is only ever growing.
