I’m a senior associate and received an offer to join a very profitable client as general counsel that would open lots of doors professionally and financially. Problem is I’m super burned out on law and was planning on quitting law firm in the next few weeks and doing something else with my life. Someone kick some sense into me before I decline the offer.

But when I search to switch jobs in the same, the options are very less. Why? Can anyone suggest? or, what exactly should I search for related jobs?

This has become one of the most important things when interviewing for me. My last employer went from having no insurance option to giving us one terrible plan that they contributed 50% towards. My current employer works with Gravie so we get so much per month and can use it towards any plan on the marketplace. Only thing that sucks is the contributions are post-tax so it counts as income.

Been in house for 5 years with current company (practice for 7), considering a move to a firm that is mid size but on big law pay scale - firm claims to be big on work/life balance. Currently working a ton and only making $140k + 20% bonus. Given how everyone dreams of moving in-house, am I crazy to move to a firm?

Outside counsel has been prepping company witnesses for a trial in August. It is my subject area so I am supervising outside counsel. I did not, however, choose the counsel. He is doing a really awful job. Co counsel is better, but not great either. Higher ups love the firm… I do not want to micromanage, but I have genuine concerns about outside counsel’s ability to try this case. Got a temp offer for less than a year without promise of turning into full-time. Wanted to know what ppl think about temp jobs (looks bad on resume if I don't turn full-time later within the company?) and what comp should look like (e.g. 1.2× of regular comp?).

Our company is shopping around for anti-virus and anti-malware solutions, and encountering companies who “will not redline.” We’ve tried 3 vendors, and the only one who redlined quoted 5x what others have quoted. Some of it has to do with how the biz team is presenting, but has anyone else run into this? I’ve not seen another industry where an outright refusal to redline exists, let alone one where negotiating legal terms costs 5x!
