Also, good question about the H1B transfer as it is a valid concern. I have been speaking to a few people about this too. What I’ve been told is that - yes, you could potentially get a RFE if you go from a 160k to 100k but as long as the salary is in the upper range with regards to the job you are taking up, you are still most likely going to be fine. It depends on the SOC job code the new employer uses, to file for your transfer.
It is all about
1) being able to justify that you can perform the job based on your current skills
2) the salary being well aligned to the SOC job code
OP, which practice were you a part of? Were you on the bench prior to bring laid off?
While this is sad I am out of options. My question is will this low pay have serious implications during H1 or perm transfers ?
Sorry to know OP and wish u all the best? If u have SAP background then Accenture and Deloitte are hiring big time, but Accenture doesn’t sponsor visa. Are you on H1?
Woah laid off from EY? I didn’t know they were having layoffs. Were you in Advisory OP? What group was this? I’m considering an offer I have with them and if the situation is bad, I’ll continue to keep looking at other places.
Depends on city, state. 100K is decent enough. Shouldn't cause problems. Good luck.
Sorry you've to go through this. Which group were you with at EY?
I’m not sure how realistic it is in your situation but have you looked at jobs back home? I realize it will be a massive adjustment after 10 years in the US but the jobs are good and plenty and pay well too! Definitely a good time to go back. Just the other day there was a post here about Mumbai strategy consulting jobs paying between 60-80k. Why not make 100k in India than here? You may not be in strategy but after 10 years you could certainly sell yourself as someone who could fit in that sort of a role.
Managers in TCS, Infosys are routinely paid around this mark and have no issues maintaining H1b status
Thanks fish !!
OP you were in which team? And was there a performance issue or the whole team was wiped off? I have heard lot of layoffs are coming at EY
@OP, what practice were you in at EY ? And was utilization a reason for the layoff ?
How did you maintain your H1 status all this while after being let go from EY?
Sorry to hear about your situation. 60k downward adjustment is quite a bit hit. Like someone else indicated, this makes it a compelling situation to move back to India. Move back if you have no other reason to be here.
