Despite all the AI talk, SWE jobs still offer the best compensation considering the hours. I’d like to hear your thoughts if you pivoted from consulting to SWE/Data Science

Go to leetcode and spend a month or so to practice about 100ish problems and interviews. Did it a few years ago. Yes at a tech company.

Oh. And also use interviewing io to practice or read Alex Xu system design or Grokking system design.

Best comp given hours could also be running a placement firm. Other people are trading their time for your clients money.

My friend collects 20-40% per annual contract. So thats 50 people paying her 20% of their pay to send a monthly invoice and check in with the client.

She doesn’t get rich that way, but she has both Time and money to invest during that time. So that’s 50k profit per a placement. Recurring each year.

Pretty close to passive income,

Weekend thought as many of us watch our portfolios bleed away value as the market hit all time highs: stick with it. This is a very difficult time in the market so try to figure out what’s not working and fix it. Stick with your process while trying to improve it. That should you you in the best place to manage risk now and be positioned to capture new opportunities in the coming weeks and months. Discipline, execution, and patience are key sources of alpha. Best of luck.

Is it irrational for me to get an “ick” for this?

I went on a “date” recently. I paid for the tab as they were going to the bathroom. As we were leaving they said “thanks for lunch” — I was hoping they’d at least ask to Venmo me half as a kind gesture. Following lunch we grabbed dessert. I was hoping they’d offer to cover dessert since I covered lunch but it didn’t happen.

I am fine w/ paying but I was hoping the gesture would at least be presented… am I crazy?

Relatively new in Big4 M&A advisory doing mostly integration work with some pre deal DD mixed in. I recently heard L.E.K. Consulting places well in MM PE but don't know much about them otherwise. Was interested if anyone had insight into whether a jump to their M&A or PE groups would be possible. In terms of background, I have an undergrad business degree from a T20 school and graduated a T14 law school as well.
