Tips on working for managers you don’t trust/look up to?

I’m having to consistently fix things they do/catch their mistake/organize the team because they’re not doing a great job at it. Tried vocalizing it but they’re not the best listeners and are pretty young (mid 20s)

Has anyone butted heads with an office manager their age? We have a new one who seems to be trying to control my schedule during Covid (ie she assigns me office days without asking me, if I leave the office early or don’t come in one day due to video calls she emails me and tells me I need to inform her of my whereabouts), when that has never been part of her job duties before. Partners don’t care that I WFH.

Do you wear a suit to work every day? How formal is your office?

There are too many men out there who think that just because I'm being polite, it's a sign that they should flirt with me while I'm at work. I thought this was 2022, why haven't we as a society gotten past this yet?

I've been seeing a lot of ADCOLOR posts on linkedin, and some of the people who are liking and reposting it are some of the same people who were blatantly racist and rude to me when I worked with them. I wish there was something I could say/do about it, but it's literally making my blood boil seeing them like posts about "uplifting" and "supporting" BIPOC, only because I know that once they get off their screens and they're the meanest people

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated. I’ll try to bring it up with them, but I’ll say “if you want to end this feel free” so it doesn’t hurt me (and they can say what they really mean instead of sugarcoating). Someone told me today that they just assume I’m not interested because I always seem to “run” but I’m not sure how to bring up problems/feelings otherwise. How do you approach these hard questions?

Discrimination question. I’ve been passed for several job opportunities in the last 4 years. Every single time the job is given to a male who’s older than me, despite my qualifications being more in line with the job. Is it worth it to make a discrimination claim? I already know HR won’t help me but should I contact an attorney?

What happens if what the employee said is slanderous and a “he said/she said” situation? What’s the best way to negotiate more money during a contract to FTE conversion? My manager and I had the conversion convo today and he said he’d like to convert me immediately and took the action item to do so. In terms of comp he said they should already have what I’m expecting but I don’t think I communicated any FTE number to my contracting company. In this job market with all the layoffs, should I count my blessings and take what I can get or is there wiggle room.
