Different agency client, same situation.

“On-call” is unpredictable and inconsistent—especially with no minimum hours, and ultimately benefits the client.

Most effective strategy seems to be hedge against it by finding other clients (increasingly a challenge these days). Decreases potential availability… but hey,“first come, first served” can go both directions.

Meantime, any advice on converting existing relationships to more of a retainer engagement?

End rant.

Sad, someone will take it.

Just tell them you follow the FLSA and they need to as well. If you live in a 1-party consent state, make it obvious you are recording the conversation so they know they'll be responsible for telling you to break the law.

It is perfectly OK to burn a bridge to nowhere.

Agencies 1… What I meant is: at the moment I can’t afford to take the chance of burning my only bridge.

But I also feel bad being gatekeeper of things.

Hello everyone! I am a Judicial Law Clerk, which I have been for a little over two years now. However, I’m planning on moving into the AML/Compliance realm. I have a background in finance, having been a Finance Disbursing Officer in the Army for 6 years with one deployment in that role. Additionally, I am currently a JAG attorney and studying for my CAMS, hoping to take that exam in the next month or two. Any advice or referrals for anyone I can talk to learn more about the field? Thanks! :)

Hi, my wife and I are expecting this upcoming year. So we are looking for health insurance that can properly cover her maternity visits and labor. Any recommendations (Florida)?

I’ve been a freelance print production designer for many years, and usually on-site in the before times. Now I work remote, and am finding it uneasy dealing with billing. Before I always billed hourly, which made sense, but it’s becoming an issue now. Some companies don’t have a full days’ work, so it seems wrong to bill full days, and it allows me to juggle projects for different companies, but my billable hours are down. I know I should bill a daily rate, but not sure that will fly. Thoughts?

Is LA the worst right now or am I just the worst?
