Definitely communicate with Partner and position as a learning opportunity on how to manage difficult people.
…plus, CYA by documenting and tracking everything in a detailed RAID log or email. Getting the teams to “officially” record sessions also helps as well as provide opportunities for team members in different time zones a little flexibility to catch up.
These things combined help demonstrate that you are looking to grow, are able to live up to demands/pressures of an audit/legal challenge and protects yourself if things go sideway.
I know it’s super annoying and tedious but this extra effort has saved me personally many times over.
I have recently found out that they actively went against my direction on a thing that ended up getting caught out in a governance meeting.
I've never had anyone on my teams so cavalier as to openly contradict me like this. I've had plenty of professional challenges, and am happy to take feedback and collaborate, but this is absolute disregard.
One of the 2 guys is the "leader" and the other is his "follower". The one who is the leader does seem to think he's always the smartest guy in the room, but with me, the only woman in our workstream, and the only woman to lead any of the workstreams, he just takes it to a whole other level.
If I wasn't desperate for his skills, I'd have booted him after the first day.
Any advice on how to get this guy in line or at least, into a box where he can't do more damage with his cavalier, know-it-all attitude?
