I only ask for more if I’m W2 and it’s over 40 hrs regardless of the day of the week. And if you’re W2, many times you need to tell them beforehand that you anticipate overtime. Many times they’ll be like “oh shit… no, stop at 40!”
I charge double my day rate for weekends bc I don’t play around with my downtime.
Same!
It depends. I charge a flat day rate to cover all 7 days. Agencies look at that as fair and a value. We all know weekend work is a possibility. Now, if you are hourly, you can spell out weekend work as time and a half or double time when negotiating. These days with so many freelancers out there, I don’t push my luck. And I also let them know my rates when contacted, but I’m willing to negotiate if their budget is fair.
Give her your day rate that covers 7 days. And if you do work on a weekend = extra gravy.
You negotiate that upfront. You can 1.5x (normal).. or 2X (what I do).
No. But if you are hired through a creative employment agency (ie creative circle) you’ll get time and a half.
CC takes +50% of your paycheck.. any third-party staffing agency does
I do 1.5x for weekend work

If you’re W2 you’ll get time and a half in most cases. If 1099 you could apply the same but it would have to be agreed upon upfront.
I’m lucky if I even get to charge my day rate… a lot of times they just calculate a weekly rate off my daily rate and it doesn’t include weekends. But when I speak up they pay me my weekends… so far
