Do the EBs like Evercore ever hire associates from other fields (like M&A lawyers) with no finance background as associates? I know the BBs do - do they pay them the same as someone who worked their way up as an analyst?

They probably get paid more- it’s a huge asset to have someone on the investment team that’s familiar with relevant legal structures.

Cuts way down on billable hours paid to law firms and it helps to identify potential issues early.

Continue developing your EVR relationships, then work to make a pivot. Literally make it your goal to know the entire team you'll be interviewing for, have at least two points of contact within the bank that can help mentor and navigate you through recruitment process, and understand what skills you bring to the table + hone financial modeling.

I think you would need solid modeling skills for it, it could happen - I've seen a lot of M&A people jump to Goldman etc

Yes I've seen people go to GS, BofA, Lazard, and others but never straight to Evercore, Centerview, etc

You would be paid the same as other 1st yr associates. Lazard Evc and Cvp should all be around $400+ (a little above street) although not sure bonuses will be quite as juicy for a year or two

Just assuming given they bumped associate 1 base to $200

would imagine pay is the same if achieved

Hi fishes,

This is for a guidewire role.
Which is a better offer? What would be a good option for growth wrt role, salary etc.
Also, PWC claims to offer variable based on their fixed CTC based on the ratings.. is this true ? How much is the avg percentage given?

Thanks in advance!
