Do y’all get more recruiter responses reaching out on LinkedIn DM vs sending a direct email? I subscribe to a sales tool that lets me find people’s work emails, so I can usually locate ~90% of recruiters’ emails when I search. I’ve connected with a lot of recruiters over the past year, but when it’s time to actually reach out—either to ask about an open role or to figure out who the aligned recruiter/hiring team contact is—I’m debating which channel gets better reply rates. What’s worked best?

Interviewing with a small (50 people) boutique firm in a management position. They are in an industry I have 10 years of experience plus I have 5 years management consulting experience in B4 firm. Assuming the pay and potential bonus are reasonable what kind of challenges would I be in for? I already understand this would be a risk to join and help them grow but if I were successful I think it could be very rewarding.

Looking to leave Cybersecurity Consulting and join FAANG. My role currently is not the most technical however - more on the cybersecurity strategy and risk side.

Any ideas if what kind of roles I should look at?

If I was a junior on a team during a campaign launch, is that something I can put in my book? I helped during the concepting phase, was responsible for keeping the boards up to date, and wrote a lot of the supporting materials (print, social etc) but obviously I was not on the shoot or the lead on writing the script. As long as I’m clear about my role is that acceptable?

How important is prestige for exit opportunities compared to actual work done? Will a big name firm always trump a smaller less known firm that your average person doesn't know?

I finished a third round interview, and HR contacted me that afternoon saying I had positive feedback across the board and they would contact me the next day regarding next steps. It’s been two days and they finally get back to me saying they haven’t been able to sync with the hiring manager but will keep me posted. Honestly I wish they would talk with the hiring manager and then let me know the decision instead of checking in. It’s messing with my emotions.

Have an acquaintance who is a single mom; she purchased a used car 3 mos ago. Six wks later her 17yo wrecked it, air bags deployed, and estimates have ranged between $10-$18k in needed repairs while $21k is still owed.
