Always half way checked in. Hate it.
I do not have notifications on my phone and do not check email over the weekend. I try really hard not to check at night during the week but that boundary is harder for me to keep. I’m much more diligent about boundary setting now than when I started practicing and it has helped my mental health dramatically. Buuuut even though I’m not checking my emails, my brain is still making to do lists, working through client issues, and catastrophizing for me in the background.
Pro
Completely disconnected. In private practice I was basically always “on call” even when on PTO but in house when I’m off, I’m off.
I try to protect at least one day a week to truly unplug.
One day per week you are off? Or just one day per week lol
Always half checked in
On normal weekends I check email and sometimes work a bit on Saturday. Never work or check work email on Sunday for religious reasons. When I’m on vacation it depends, but I try to schedule frequent hiking trips where I don’t have signal so I am inherently unplugged and put that in my OOO message.
