Do you actually need to go back to school to pivot out of accounting? I’ve been looking at strategy and corporate development roles, and it feels like every job post is screaming MBA Preferred. I’m already drowning in undergrad debt, and the thought of spending six figures just to maybe get in the door makes me sick. But I also don’t want to stall out because I didn’t invest in myself.

Lots of people have pivoted out of accounting. At the end of the day, it’s all about how relevant your experience is to the role you’re applying to. Accounting is very different from CorpDev/Strategy, so you will have to take roles that give you the relevant experience to be marketable for a role that would get you closer to your end goal. You might need to do this multiple times.

If you’re trying to land a corpdev role, be prepared to take a long route to get there. It typically goes TAS/FDD —> IB —> CorpDev. Not so sure about strategy though, but I can see someone doing FAAS —> EYP —> Corp Strategy

I recently was let go (in lieu of accepting my two weeks) and I should have received my March expense check by the end of April per the employment agreement (submitted the report April 1, let go before mid April). I have emailed HR but haven't heard anything. I've got a feeling someone at the top is putting a hold on it.

How do I get my money from them? It's a few hundred dollars

Sorry if this isn't the right bowl for this question - I've checked a few.

I applied for a job and received an offer from my client. 15k+ bump in salary, better benefits/remote work, and responsibilities will give me exposure to all areas of the organization (start up). The problem is that they’re looking to staff me as a Senior when I’m currently a Manager at DT. They said they’re flexible on title, but curious to hear how others have navigated similar situations. I would report directly to the controller and have 1-2 staff reporting to me...
