Dear HR, it’s caffeine

You’re looking at it backwards, take something to go to sleep. Get up 4-4:30, go for a run, get the creative juices flowing, and refreshed. Much more productive.

I’ve used Rhodiola Rosea, L-theanine and B-complex and a cup of caffeinated coffee or tea. It’s helped with my mental stamina to carry me through the day.

It’s helpful to go for a walk and yes, caffeine, but also, rest your body while at work if you need to. No need to push and pretend to be “on”. Scroll insta for a bit, relax, send a meme. Take a few short breaks during that period and then ramp back up your energy.

My firm typically does insurance defense, but we take plaintiffs cases here and there. Is it typical that work done by associates on contingency cases isn’t counted toward their billable hour requirements unless and until we receive our fee on the case? This is my first experience with this, but it’s hard for me to reach my hours as is, without spending time on non billable cases like this with no assurance that I’ll see billable credit at the end.

#stepuptothetable is about helping local restaurants who are struggling during these times. I have seen numerous linkedin posts with videos where people challenge each other to step up to the table & buy meals & gift cards from their community restaurants. A great way for those of us who are more fortunate to support business & keep people employed.

Colleague B: *begins talking at the the same time as A*
Colleague B: "I'm sorry, A. Go ahead"

Everyone else on the call: *Stunned silence....*

Interesting all the noise about these PPT, my take:

The pandemic took all the upside of an IB analyst life (client meetings in person, fancy trips, suit up, worshiped at networking events) and left all the juniors with the downside (long hours, monkey-like type of job, aggressive work environment).

Not that the complaints are not sort of legitimate but you may need to revise the decision-making process that led you to accept a return offer. Specially if you were looking for less hours.
