Yes if our class is in quarantine-but we don’t get paid extra
I was pulled to sub the whole month of November because we had so many teachers out on quarantine. Nope, no additional compensation...”thank you”. 😒
Yes. They have been pulling us left and right. No extra pay. It’s frustrating because when I’m pulled to sub it means I’m not assisting my SPED students’ needs.
We are on a "rotation" to fill in when staff is out and subs are unavailable. With that said, you might go weeks without subbing or you could sub once a week (just depends)! We (Paras) actually get compensated an extra $100 each time to sub (not too bad)😉
Yes we do get pulled, I think it is $40 more than what our pay is. We can also be pulled to be a co-facilitator if the teacher needs to work from home, and there are students in the classroom. We then get payed more for that as well.
Yes we get pulled to sub for lunch and recess duty. No extra pay though.
Yes! If the daily sub rate is higher than my rate (which it isn’t) I would get paid sub rate.
Paras at my site are still asked to sub when a teacher is out. Our sub pool in our district is extremely low since Covid. No one is applying. We got so burned out last year, from having to sub, that this year we just don't respond when asked anymore. I feel it harms the groups of students, that are needing that extra intervention time with us, when we are pulled to sub.
We are paid time +40% to sub.
