I think if you stick with production long-term you'll either die on set or have a pretty short retirement before you kick the bucket.
I know a few line producers who are finally getting out because of health scares making them realize it's not a profession worth dying early for.

Although waking up with lower back pain might also be a mattress issue. At least it was for me!

I started doing production in NYC back in the late 80s. I'm about to turn 57 years old. Still in NY, still in production, have been freelance most of my career I'm an ad agency-side executive producer who is 50/50 content (broadcast and stills) and experiential. When one market dips the other keeps me afloat.

The reason I decided to go agency side pretty early in my career is due in part to what you're talking about in your post. And the money's better agency side, if you're good at figuring out both side of the game (prod co and agency) and learn to have zero ego.

They mentioned base salary with commission, as they want to see growth in the next 3-5 years. There has been no talk of salary yet. What does a base salary for an EP with commission usually look like in this role? What should I be asking for?
