For the most part. There's only so much you can learn in the classroom, and I imagine that holds true for every other discipline as well. Anything above "in completely over your head" is fine for a first job.

Actually, yes. I went into my job without any knowledge of the tools or languages we were using, but my CPE degree taught me how to read manuals, read documentation, and dig into a project that is over my head. The first few days/months/years at a company will always have a learning curve because it's infeasible for schools to teach the tools used in industry because they're always changing as corporate b2b sales teams fight for dominance. What uni did was give me a good sense of smell for technical quality, and the experience to learn efficiently.
