This behavior has historical roots. In the early years of our country, if you are out on the frontier, building and sustaining your community was a key for survival.
it's warm and inviting. America is certainly nowhere near perfect, but the smiles and small talk make me happy.
NYC America. I guess the smiles and small talk feel false to me. No sincerity to it.
Because it is!
Have you seen the news recently? Where is the love?!
And I'm an asshole. Let's all be besties.
Depends on the region that American is from. Personally, I've found Australians, Brazilians, Dutch, and Belgians I've worked with test my tolerance for smiles and small talk much more than other Americans
I'm on the techy side. I say smart shit and look serious. Kind of works.
America, actually.
Because...WEATHER
I hate small talk. Likely because I'm terrible at it.
So how are people supposed to make friends then?
Not bad, actually. I did-- HEY!!
Idk I kinda like small talk with strangers, I have friends at every store, coffee shop, ect. that I frequent. It's nice having a little community of my own in a place like NYC. By putting a lil' happiness out I get a lot back.
Where are you from?
What America do you live in?
