Zoom and virtual hearing made it way better. Rarely travel now
Mentor
No. Rarely travel in litigation. And 99% of stuff settles and never goes to trial…
This is practice area dependent. I’m a litigator in mass torts and when an MDL is hot, I could be flying 1-6x a month to take in-person depositions and attend hearings. Some of my friends in other lit groups do not travel as much.
I guess that is true for some practices, but I don't think it's true for most. Very few of my cases make it to depositions, and I rarely have an in person motion to dismiss argument. I see partners who travel more, but their kids are much older.

Trials can keep you away for months at a time. Few and far between but I can’t imagine being away from my kids for that much time
Yeah Idk if it is worse than corporate but it’s why I’m leaving—traveling monthly for depos and trials is not my favorite when I have a young child.
