Steer clear
I pretty much fly delta. Live in a hub city. I don’t even like to fly American or united
As someone who no longer lives near a hub city, my first choice is any airline that offers a nonstop flight. If no nonstop, I look for the shortest trip that isn't at some crazy departure or arrival time. If I have multiple choices, I'll typically favor Delta & Southwest (I have status for both) first. After that, almost everyone is an option.
I feel like there's always more delays with the budget airlines and often they aren't given priority placement at airports so you end up in shittier parts of the airport waiting to board, you usually have to get a bus to the plane and board via external stairs - sucks for you if it's raining.
If you don't have much choice though - a good tip is to skip past all of the add on 'packages' they offer - they are total scams if you don't care about seat selection or priority boarding (which it never ends up being especially if you are on a bus). It always works out cheaper to just add on the specific bag weight you need.
