Rising Star
It sounds like you are on a journey of discovery.
Enjoy understanding how people interact and react to your pricing model. I’m sure it will evolve over time.
I always try to find a scripture to encourage me.
Maybe this will encourage you
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

You are not alone.
Maybe this scripture can highlight Gods will for us all.
1 Peter 4:10, 11
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
This scripture highlights God’s view on how we use money
Malachi 3:8-18
Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
How we interact with the world as it relates to money
Matthew 22:20-22
And He said unto them, “Whose is this image and superscription?”
And they said unto Him, “Caesar’s.” Then said He unto them, “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s.”
I hope this helps.
How long have you been consulting? People are paying for your time because you have expertise to offer and they want to compensate you fairly. It's a good thing if someone wants to pay you well for your work and time!
This is my second year, so I'm fairly new and still trying to work through some things in my mind, obviously. 😬 I can see what you mean. I appreciate you sharing!
Why? If that’s what the client agrees? We obviously prefer as a company to do fixed fee work and deliverables but clients sometimes prefer hourly rates.
I think I can see where you're coming from, but I always worry that I'm overcharging and somehow taking advantage of a client or company when they are paying by the hour. As a young consultant, I'm sure it will be easier to wrap my head around (and hopefully feel less guilty) as time goes on.
Well even if you weren’t in a consulting company - companies would either pay you via an annual salary (and your costs to the employer is higher in total because of medical / dental / legal / 401k / etc) or as a contractor where you are paid by the hour (usually a little higher than the annualized salary by hour bc they don’t have to provide you with benefits). And basically through consulting companies, we are contractors.
If you’re not fully doing work for the whole hours you’re charging your client, find ways to fill up that time with work by finding new projects to take on. It is a sin to be lazy and to not be diligent in your work.
Depends, are you a socialist or a capitalist?
