They’ve contacted me a couple times in the past to schedule calls. We quickly agree on a time but they always flake.
Theyre a mixed bag I'd say. You can talk with the recruiter without actually moving forward with them, if your instincts give you concern
Largely a bunch of spammers
I’ve been contacted by one recruiter and I responded. Interviewed for the in house job they suggested and received an offer. The recruiter answered all my questions, helped me prepare for the interview, and negotiated the offer on my behalf. I had no major concerns. I’d say it wouldn’t hurt you to speak with them and/or respond, and then decide if you even want to apply for the job
Trust your gut. You aren't missing out on anything if the people you would rely on for direction have so little credibility you question whether you should even respond. There are far too many "job posters" that result in spam emails, etc.
