I moved to Maine. Didn’t help with the taxes but the quality of life is amazing. Commute to Boston is tough, but manageable. On the plus side, Portland flies to nearly everywhere I go regularly, and Boston fills the gaps when I need a direct long haul.
Keep in mind if you’re still commuting to MA, you’ll still owe MA tax for those days.
If you’re hybrid and your spouse works in NH though, you can save a decent amount.
Not tax advice 🙂
Windham / Pelham are the only two I’ve looked at, I mean you’re getting a hell of a lot more for 700-800k. In mass towns I am getting a 1000-1200 sq ft home with a ton of work required so it makes a difference.
In terms of the school piece, my spouse is a school teacher so I hope that helps in my kids development.
The savings purely on my income (10-15k) would offset property taxes entirely. I f’ing hate that living here is this expensive
Yes I live in NH and commute to Logan if Manchester or Hartford don't have options for flights I need.
You didn't say where you were looking.
Keene.
Hartford and MHT are closer then Logan.
Home prices are not much better if you are looking in Southeast NH.
And public and social services for a small family are non existent. I know parents in NH that have to remain tied to MA for schools just for things like IEP and services.
