I am a Deloitte UK employee who was earlier Deloitte US employee on H1B but had moved out due to not getting I140 on time. Now I have completed 1 year in Deloitte UK and have become eligible for L1A. Anyone sailed similar boat before?

This one is for folks on h1b visa. So at time when you have an offer in hand(not accepted the offer yet and h1b transfer process not yet begun) while you are working with your current employer, do you even speak to your employer about your new offer to see if they make a counter offer?
Is there a risk involved with this approach assuming your current employer doesn't provide you with a counter offer and they ask you to leave immediately (and your h1b visa hasn't been transferred either)
