Yes - you’ll need to be off of the glp1 for at least 1-2 months before you start IVF
You need to have been off the GLP1 meds for 2months. 2 months is the minimum recommendation
My doctor wouldn’t let me start retrieval process meds etc until being off GLP1 for 2 months. If you look it up online it says the same thing. I wish I would have known because it cost me 2 months
Yes - you should ask your fertility specialist on the exact timing you need to stop it, but you will need to stop the GLP-1 before you do IVF.
26 is barely overweight depending on your body composition - I’m somewhere similar and not once did the RE recommend or push me to lose weight. I’m trying to, via non GLP1 means, as the IVF timeline is complicated enough as is without introducing GLP1 usage into the equation.
Before any part of the IVF process? I thought it was just before egg retrieval
No, I had to stop 1 month before FET
I did a GLP1 for several months before IVF. No issues, had to stop 1 month before starting treatment.
Yeah I had a similar idea and was advised against it strongly. Metformin is what she recommended if I absolutely needed to do weight management prior to pregnancy but she said the side effects weren’t great and recommended not being on any medications unless medically necessary 3 months prior.
I was on it and was told to be off it two months prior to doing any fertility treatment
If FET - then at least one month
Don’t know about egg retrieval. Are you doing retrieval or transfer?
Retrieval and then once we have embryos we will get them tested and then do a transfer
Also if you are normal weight- it is not recommended i think as it might negatively impact the transfer. But if you are overweight or obese, guidelines are different and you might benefit more than potential harm
I am overweight with a BMI of 26
One of my friends did them and got pregnant while on them after not being able to get pregnant for 7 years (she did them in anticipation of IVF). She was no obese but overweight. Similar to your BMI (i think her was 27)
If you do do them, make sure you lift an eat enough protein even if you dont feel like eating. You must protect your mussle
I am all for GLP1s under controlled conditions. They are great tool in the fertility toolbox albeit not yet well understood. So proceed with caution, err on the smaller dose side, and focus on protecting lean mass. Under these conditions, the results are very promisong
