Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

ADP has a good paycheck calculator, I would check that out. You can enter your state and it gives a breakdown of how much of your paycheck goes to federal and state tax

That seems reasonable - I’d check payscale, Mercer and Robert half; all which will have pay survey data and you should be able to refine it based on your location and seniority.
I like Robert half personally. It gives you a chart with percentiles and helps you understand where you land. Take into consideration that it may be a lower salary than high cost of living areas, or marketing roles in higher paying industries. Each variable changes the equation.
