I don't think we do anything like this at my org. Or maybe I'm just not cool enough to warrant an invite 😂. I probably would if I was asked. Things are relatively laid back here, so I don't think it would be much of an issue.
I used to participate in a football playoff pool at a previous job. It never occurred to me that it would be unethical to participate. I think there's a debate about whether they're legal, as it's technically gambling, but I think office pools are exempt from state gambling laws. I never won anything in the pools, but it made it interesting, especially in years where I really didn't care who was playing.
Are you talking about for the super bowl or just in general? I've only done this kind of thing with friends/family for the super bowl so I haven't really had the opportunity to participate in a workplace betting game like this. It might depend on the state you live in whether or not it's legal
Who cares? Ethical? Smh. You’ve got bigger issues to worry about than playing games with coworkers
I've been at my place of work for 25 years. We have weekly football picks and do Superbowl squares. We've even done betting pools for baby due dates. Idk if it's legal or ethical. We just do it to have fun and as long as it doesn't interrupt or work, management doesn't care, they generally play too.
