Does MBB hire externally at the manager level (SM at Bain, EM at McKinsey, Project Leader at BCG)?
For context: I spent 3 years at an MBB firm, then moved to PE where I’ve been for 4 years and am currently a VP. I’m considering a return to consulting but want to come back at the manager level rather than stepping down a level. Is this realistic given my background?

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.

My firm does upward feedback and I asked about 10 of my team to participate so that I could be a better supervisor for them. My results: I got mostly great feedback with constructive points, however along with it I received the meanest, most cold hearted criticism I’ve ever seen (con’t in comments).

Most woman with excellent WOE don’t negotiate their pay.. I’m a woman working in Tech and this is so sad to know..

I've a question on what sections to put on a regular resume. I see some people are using consulting style resume for outside companies as well. Do you think it's a good idea to devide work experience by projets? Or is it better to have "projects highlights" separate from work experience.. something like: intro>functional expertise> project highlights>work experience>education?
