Do you always need an MBA to get into MBB?
Bain & Company My 13 YO is taking Career and Tech. She is dead set on diving for Michigan. What are her chances of getting hired from MBB with a degree from UM? Or would she need her MBA first? Is a Michigan degree good enough to get you into a top MBA program?

Is firm travel back up to pre covid levels?
Bain & Company Got dinged after a final round AC interview with Bain & Company as an experienced hire with 1 YOE. Currently at $75k base salary and on average work 30-40 hours a week.
Considering $15-25k increase in salary, but double the number of work hours, is it worth reapplying to Bain next year or better to wait to apply until after business school?

If you were at Bain beforehand and you're seeking to return then I think that's considerably easier because you're already familiar with the firm norms and ways of working. In my mind the main question then is being able to prove that you can run a team at an SM level. I would suggest reaching out to Partners with whom you worked in the past - they can prob give you better insight into what your path would look like as a boomerang.
Yes
I suspect the answer to your question is highly dependent on market conditions, which I think are generally favorable for this type of move at the moment. That said, speaking for Bain, many lateral SMs leave or are managed out within 2 years due to the difficulty of the transition at that level.
Interesting. Even lateral SM that came from PE / worked at Bain beforehand? I worked at Bain for 3 years if that helps..
Very rarely
Investment team or ops?
Thanks! Out of curiosity, what is your level at McKinsey and have you seen others make a similar switch?
Why do you want to come back? Isn’t the pay worse? Which geography are you in?
Yep that’s exactly right!
I’m confused assuming you were a BA joining the PE firm as an associate and now VP you’re making at least 500K. Should be min at AP level to make the same salary
Unless you mean you weren’t at mega
I am at a MF, yep making over $500K in cash and another big chunk in carry (who knows how much that will be worth…) for full transparency. I am definitely willing and know I will have to take a big pay cut to return to consulting
Yes - now is also a great time (we are growing and need SMAPs) so I’d reach out to old partners you had good relationships with. You might need to do an at bat before you make SM- depends on the person
Would you want to do PEG or GP though?
Yeah definitely. GP is where it’s at… just talk to your mentors!
I would be careful with this move as I expect there will be a lot of pressure from the firm for you to slot into PEG
