Yes, where you get your MBA does matter. And it is true that the top schools all have major problems with antisemitism. I got my MBA at Wharton and I withdrew from applicant interviews because I can’t defend the Penn administration’s management of the situation or tell Jewish or Israeli applicants they’ll be 100% safe and happy on campus.
However. If someone came to me debating between Wharton and a lower-tier school, I’d still say go to Wharton. It’s a massive financial investment and you need to go where you’ll get the biggest ROI in salary. It’s also true that the antisemitism is primarily coming from the undergrad and humanities programs. It won’t be easy, but I’d say stay focused on why you want an MBA and be very selective about picking friends. The two years will end and you’ll reap the benefits throughout a decades-long career.
I’d be absolutely floored if any firm decides to not hire anyone from (for example) Harvard because some students are being aggressively antisemitic on campus. I have heard that specific students who openly said and did antisemitic things had offers rescinded but there is no evidence that this is impacting graduates as a cohort. I think a good rule of thumb in general is to not do or say anything during school that could get you arrested and do not express hate for any specific group. Firms can and do filter applicants for values and cultural fit, and this is where some students who openly engage in hate speech will get in trouble. But I’d give that same advice any year.
The silver lining (if any) is that mba cohorts are less polarized and usually more removed from the undergrads and law students, which is where majority of the noise comes from.
Not discounting the question at all (id have the same qualms), but just trying to share what I’ve heard
