I got a remote L6 SWE offer at Google but the RSUs are too low for that level ($625k over 4 years), could not negotiate it higher. I’ve accepted the offer but trying to be hopeful that I could make it more equitable in the future if I perform well. Are stock refreshers based on the initial RSU grant or solely based on performance? Google

We get a 3% salary increase per year for costs of living but I think that is standard regardless of current inflation levels
Salaries relate to the market for labor and not inflation. Inflation is an average figure across the economy and could be taken as an indicator, but it’s not the right way to do it.
Say you have a small simplified island economy and the price of imported gasoline goes up a ton. Employers in the island won’t be able to pay more just because of that price increase that they don’t benefit from. It’s likely everyone on the island just gets poorer.
