Thoughts on analyst to associate promote in IB?
Anyone here from Investment Banking at Houlihan Lokey, Evercore or Lazard in London (UK)? I’m currently working in Corporate Finance M&A in GT UK. I’d want to move to one of these banks next year so would like to know about work culture, teams, opportunities, salaries and bonuses. Appreciate your kind help on this

Doesn’t IB teach sales and relationship management as well?
Well it depends. I have managed my past relationships well. However, not able to build new ones in Canada as i have hardly got responses to emails / linkedin messages. People do accept requests and then go silent. Its obivious that i am looking for a job isnt it. But people just dont respond. I am even ready to start afresh as an Analyst. And relationships are 2 way not one way. If i go to any of the banks with a deal / teaser / CIM i will be entertained. If i go ask for a job i will be shunned. Thats my personal experience
This is pretty basic - if you do a job you hate for x amount of years, it’s going to open doors towards a direction of more stuff you hate.
Tip- let go of this “IB” defines my existence mentality and do some serious soul searching on what you want for your career and your life more broadly. Being cognizant of the energy you’re projecting during your interview process, whether you’re running away or towards something.
Finally i have something thats not in IB. I am excited to have it almost after an year. Thanks everyone for the help and wishes
Just takes time man! I recently made the switch to a chief of staff role - it’s difficult (more so with covid) but it’s possible! Stay in high hopes and I wish you well!
Thanks however, its almost been an year now and with every rejection and same reasons frustration creeps in. Not looking at this platform to vent it. However looking for opportunities / help if anyone at tjis platform can do.
Have you thought about EY Canada? They have a Strategy and Transactions unit. Within that i think they have an investment bank / advisory unit.
Have been applying. Not getting a call. Can you introduce me to someone for a coffee chat
Insightful - However i have heard all the reasons about my rejections. You are too experienced, you dont have Canadian experience, you dont know this tool etc etc. Frankly i dont even know what to do. Maybe the decision to come to Canada was a mistake however, took it for the next gen.
I am not looking here for sympathy but for empathy and networking opportunity and ofcourse a job to sustain
