Earnings are backward looking, stock prices are forward looking. If you're trying to speculate on future stock prices based on historic earning then you're due for a rude awakening.
Most earnings calls talk about future plans which often times come from past results. I think the statement that earnings has nothing to do with stock price is pretty ignorant.
