Yes I am thinking of saying no to them. The rental is not my main source of income and I have other sources. I don’t want to ruin relationships for money
The fact that you are even having this conflict means you are a good person. Remember, you can’t take the money with you when you die, and your children (if you have them) can make way more than you or squander all of yours away - all dependent on them and not related to what you leave them.
Say no
Do what's right, which is saying no to the chain. I strongly believe in karma, you do good, you get good. Plus, it puts your heart at ease :) it's a hard time, esp for small business. Let's take care of one another

Love the responses here, nothing to add except for support. Follow your heart, karma is real
Plus from a business perspective, neighborhoods with more local businesses have more character than chain populated strip malls. Local is the future, so you are protecting the value of your property in exchange for some short term cash flow
What do you think is the right thing to do? It’s hard to go wrong when you do that.
Eat your competition and make a necklace from their teeth. Capitalism beseeches you.
