Eli Lilly Lead vs Merck Associate Director — need advice.

Lilly: 115k + 15% bonus + RRSP
Merck: 135k + 17% bonus + ~15% LTI

Merck wins on comp/title (AD vs Lead), but I’m currently at Merck and struggling with culture — unstable leadership, toxic managers, low psychological safety.

Considering Lilly for better WLB and healthier culture, even with a pay cut and step down in title.

How’s Lilly Canada culture (esp. tech/data)

Is WLB meaningfully better? Eli Lilly and Company

What are the easiest practices within S&C to go from A to C? Or does this not really matter? Anywhere I can objectively see the performance of each practice?

Tax Question:

I lived in VA for 8 months of 2019 and then moved to DC for the last 4 months. I got a federal and state refund from VA, but now owe DC “state” taxes because apparently they were not taken out of my paycheck. However, I changed my address in my firm’s system right when I moved... is this an issue on my firm’s part or did I screw something up?

AWS lowballed but I negotiated to match Cloudflare. Cloudflare offers more equity but AWS has a higher base.

I love Cloudflare. The people are great but it’s an engineering culture and the sales team isn’t as well shaped up and I can’t go for a promotion until at least 18 months of tenure. I am an investor in the company and think of them super highly. I’ve already got half a years SDR experience and AWS promotes quicker.
