Every failed SAP program teaches the same lessons. Problems were visible early. Decisions were delayed. Risks were normalized. And optimism replaced control. Failure is rarely a surprise to those close to the work. It’s a surprise only to those shielded from reality. The strongest leaders I’ve worked with don’t fear bad news. They fear late news. That mindset changes everything.

And February made me shiver
With every jira I delivered
Bad news in the scrum call
I couldn’t take one debrief y’all
I can’t remember if I cried
When I read the new scope we’d signed
But something touched me deep inside
The day the project died

Good try… you should go to LinkedIn to post these types of obvious platitudes, let’s keep fishbowl a space where we can be acid and anonymous.

Alt pitch the team didn’t deliver and the failed project rests with the people responsible for delivering it.

Any project in corporate, mate.

Also struggle with this mindset

This could be said about many things not just SAP projects.
Hindsight is 20/20. The issue is that those who are going through this on the client side are usually going through this for the first time or the first time in a while. Those on the delivery side think that this time will be different. Both sides have vested interests to minimize the bad news or alternative reasons.

Welcome to life and basic politics.

EY does your HR act as if they are getting approvals when the hiring manager gave me hint that I’m a candidate already approved? It’s been like 2 weeks and the HR is very poor in response. Now I’m like will I even be approved? I don’t know why the HR is so slow.

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
