I have never been happier!
obviously depends on where you go - i switched over to a competitive engineering consulting firm. I took a $5k pay cut but have been told by others at my new company bonuses are extremely competitive. not super sure about raises as I started right after they had just gone into effect. but the overall work life balance and stress free environment is well worth the pay difference but I think I will be caught back up to my peers in public by this time next year.
Yes
Overall less intense- in public every day id show up and have so many calls and meetings and training of staff that I only started my real work after 5 a lot of the time. In my job now I’m busy still at quarter end but it’s 3 weeks and then the rest of the time is chill. I got a pay raise leaving public too and while my raises aren’t great (was about 3%) this yr I also have less responsibility and stress so I’m okay with it
Completely agree. I miss coaching staff sometimes in my current role where I don’t have direct reports but then remind myself how much time and energy that took that is now off my plate. I still keep in touch with my favorites from KPMG so can informally mentor! AND not to mention no time sheets or chargeable hours haha
Happier with great mental health
100% yes
