Ex-ACN Deloitter here. I like it. Good boost in pay, the benefits are nice, I really like the performance eval system, and everyone I've met has been absolutely awesome. However, it really varies if you get stuck with a shit project or team. If you're on a shitty project or not happy with your pay, I highly recommend doing a hop to Uncle D to "refresh your career". Otherwise, you're going to get more or less of the same.
I too, am interested.
D1 and D2, do you get forced to work in specific industries? I'm more or less pigeonholed into O&G because of living in Texas and Accenture trying to keep me local but I want to work in life sciences/biopharma
ACN -> Deloitte -> ACN
I didn't like it there. Very different culture and way of doing things. Pay and perks are nice, but I just didn't have any fun at work there, so it wasn't worth it to me.
I moved 6 years ago and never looked back. Depends on what you want to do.
@D1 why did you move? Is there anything you miss about ACN?
Kept getting stuck working for assholes who could be assholes because they were good "value creators" (is that still a thing?). Forced distribution on projects led to backstabbing. Need a fresh start and have had a much better experience . Plus what D2 said. I'm sure people have had the same experience going from D to ACN.
Also if I'm a consultant 4 years in, would I be moving to consultant or senior consultant at Deloitte?
One more question, hows your experience been specifically as an experienced hire? I hear that you're looked at as an outsider at D
I wasn't stuck in industry, but this was before the regional model. O&G has always been pretty tough to escape from TX. If you want pharma you'll have to network hard (seems like everyone wants to work in life science) but no reason why not
Probably C. We tend to "level down" candidates, but does it matter if you're making more?
Never felt like an outsider. Plus with attrition I'm the old guard now.
Nope! I'm not a title whore, as long as I get a bump. I currently make $100k base. But good to know your experience has been great! Most of my experience has been in op model design and value management, I'm assuming that's S&O? Also, if I know someone at D, would a referral and applying online be better than reaching out to a recruiter on LinkedIn?
A3, that's my biggest fear. I honestly love the culture here and have a lot of fun with coworkers. But I feel "trapped". I've spent all 4 years trying to leave O&G but get pulled into it despite all my networking and +1s in life sciences, so I feel like I need a fresh start somewhere else
S&O. Referral always gives an edge but we're hiring so a recruiter is probably fine.
A3 I'd be curious to know what you saw as the main points of difference in the cultures?
Does anyone do tech implementations at D? Curious on how it'll differ from ACN
Ton of tech work. Our consulting ceo came from tech
