Any books to recommend regarding leadership? I really like David chang’s memoir and Can see it being applied in my own life even as a consultant.
Are there any helpful books/resources/podcast episodes about leadership you guys would recommend?
Has anyone read either Dave Burgess's "Teach Like a Pirate" or "Lead Like a Pirate" books? What's your takeaway from them?
If you’re succeeding on all the right metrics (i.e., leadership loves you, clients love you, you’re participating on pitches, you’ve brought in clients, and you’re set up to inherit a book of business), but you’re still not super into it, being promoted to income partner won’t change things, right? Worth sticking out to see or jumping to go in house at a pre-IPO, late stage startup you find super exciting and interesting?
Favorite books about creative leadership?
hadn't worked with a female co-worker since starting this job, recently met a mindblowing amazing person who just got promoted to manager. she loves reading, any suggestions on female leadership books
Does your firm form leadership group trainings? We usually do every summer but we are starting one these last 2 months. We usually read books or watch something and then discuss. If you do them, do you think they are effective?
I’ve hit an absolute brick wall when it comes to finding for a new job. I’ve had almost a dozen interviews that lead nowhere and been ghosted by a ton of recruiters. Would anyone be available to look over my book and give me some advice? 🙏
For my fellow managers (team leaders, people leaders, project leaders, practice leaders, etc.) - which management / leadership books have you found to be helpful in honing your approach to leading teams?
Any good books / podcasts for developing great leadership skills - bonus for creative leadership. Thx.
I work at a preschool that redirects disruptive students by giving them a book to calm down and regroup. Do you think this is a good practice or does it ultimately lead the student to see reading as punishment?
Does anyone have book recommendations on how to develop account management and overall leadership skills in the workplace? Want to improve my client relations skills.
I’m one of very few creative women in my shop...there are none in creative leadership. Would love a female mentor who I could show my book to, ask questions, and get general advice from. 🤞
The worst thing is being “voluntold”. Partners : “Hey, how do you feel about volunteering to lead this? I think you would be great “ Me: “I don’t have the bandwidth to lead that event” Partner : “Let me clarify, you are leading this event, please book a meeting on my calendar.”
soo my sleep schedule is effed up, i keep trying to wake up early-ish (7am) but i’m lacking motivation and i wake up tired 😴 i stumbled upon this article that talked about this book. we always hear about the “secret” of strong leaders is that they wake up early. has anyone read this/tried it out? 5 AM Club, The: Own Your Morning. Recommendations for books or resources to improve executive presence and on leadership? Asian female new SM looking to up my skills
Hey all - how do you guys sell or lead things you aren’t genuine believing in? It’s almost like a fake it till you make it? I find it difficult to be behind a product or technology I don’t understand enough of or believe and I previously used to work in sales. Also any books/techniques which help. I am often too genuine or objective.
Do you have any book/video/whatever recommendations for how to be a good manager/lead? I'm trying to make the transition and get more responsibility
How many times has an interviewer no-showed and the recruiter profusely apologizing on their behalf? Happened to me with Mindtree recruiter, for an IoT leadership position where the interviewing VP chose to no show twice… after which I thanked the recruiter that I was impressed by their book of busi-ness and that it was intimidating to be thinking about the prospect of working for Mindtree… as I’m too incapable for those performance standards… 😂😂
But once again not posting

I just received an offer within the industry and I'm excited to join. That said, they have come in at the bottom of my range (I said $320k when I started talking with them in December, and upgraded that to $350k based on market movements since then) I'm particularly bothered by the clawback on my bonus payments until my LTIP kicks in. Below I'm attaching my redacted offer letter and draft response. Looking for feedback on my response (whether reasonable, any improvements). Thanks.
Does anyone else take it a little personally when you’re the last one on the “To” line or is that just my anxiety lol
Got an offer at KPMG w/ 30% increase at mgr and I’m a manager at Deloitte (going up for SM next year) …thoughts moving Deloitte to KPMG? should I stay or should I go? I’m worried because I don’t hate Deloitte (the people are great and I have tons of support)…I’d have to start over at KPMG and no guarantee I’d even go up for Director as experienced hire.
Are 6 eggs (4 white, 2 whole) too much to eat for breakfast daily? Sometimes just over easy, sometimes as breakfast tacos with corn street taco shells and turkey bacon, sometimes as an omelet with turkey bacon crumbles/mozzarella Is it sustainable to lose weight/build muscle?
Seeing all these "great place to work" awards for my former employer completely undermines my perception of those awards. I'm actually starting to wonder how many places run for awards like this to paper over their broken culture.
How do you come to terms with just not being smart enough to get to the next career level? Currently a senior consultant and the partners seem super humanly smart and good at their job, I think this is as high up as my brain can get
Is it so terrible to ask for another month between jobs? I asked for 1.5 months but my bg check didn’t clear until now and now I’m exactly 2.5 weeks away from my start date. I asked for another month but I’m not getting positive responses :(
Dad sent me a copy of his 1980 employee manual from Arthur Anderson. It has references to the client's switchboard, expensing telegraph costs and an example of a handwritten timesheet. Epic.
So I’m currently in an industry job and have a new consulting gig lined up to start mid-March. I just received my bonus letter which will be paid out in full at the end of February. I know the general rule is “wait until the $ hits your account to give notice,” but if I do, I won’t be able to give a full two weeks before I have to leave. Is there really a risk in giving notice to my current company before the bonus money is officially in my account?
Struggling to decide if I should give low rating to this individual. Felt like my working style was orthogonal to his, which created friction throughout the project. Felt he thought he was doing
Does this depress anyone else? I'm supposed to be successful, but it would take me 500 years to make what this woman does in a month posting a few photos of herself every two weeks...
