Tbh audit has a lot of transferrable skills and u can move on and do anything after. U can transfer to any department in PwC if u really wanted to. I think the questions to ask is (which i also thought about when i left)
1. Do u want to stay within AWM and insurance area or run as far from those ? U can leverage what u know to move across to roles needing that knowledge. If not, is there a particular sector you might be interested in or what to join a team which is sector agnostic? If u want to join a team like doing Energy it is not impossible, you just need to do a lot a lot of personal upskilling.
2. I think to ask yourself what is important to you, money? Work life balance? If money, there are the more obvious choices like roles in finance and tech? Do u want to log of at 5pm and not work till 2 3 am in the morning, perhaps IB, M&A, and certain consulting roles are not suitable. A friend of mine wanted wlb hence moved to in house finance and they have a more predictable work pattern whereas I moved to advisory (finance) and wlb was bottom of my list and work super long hours.
3. The question to ask if u want to remain accounting related or move on to something with a different skillset? Like what is it you want to learn? What is ur bigger picture?
4. Another question for me was do I want to bring revenue in or be a cost centre? I wanted to be client facing and bring in revenue. If you don't want, u can join like finance department, compliance, ops role etc
