Well, this really depends on your market, and whether or not you switch jobs. I’ll assume NYC.
You should not expect an annual raise. Doesn’t happen. You should expect a raise with promotion. Although that unfortunately doesn’t always happen.
If you’re at 40K now as am AE (not AAE) you’re already at the lowest end of the spectrum ($40K to $60K for an AE).
Unfortunately, you’ll never get much more than a 15% (maybe 20% absolute tops) raise internally. But let’s assume you’re able to get more.
At Senior AE you should push for at least a $10K jump. So $50K. You should be in that position for a minimum of 12 months. Most likely 18 at least, before promoted to AS. That range is $60K to $90K. You’ll prob be at the lower end if you stay at your current place. Fun fact - this is why the AS position has the highest turnover rate in Acct Mgmt.
Then comes Management Sup. Realistic range is $90K to $120K. Minimum 18 to 24 months in that role - and that’s if you’re a total badass.
Then Account Director, $115K to $170K. Wide range, as this will be a number of years for most people before moving up. 3-5 years for most.
Can keep going, but I’ve got you mapped out for at least the next 6 or 7 years.
Hope this helps!
