Firm (biglaw) normally sponsors GC after three years at the firm, I’ll be back next year on L1A after spending one year in NY and one abroad, how can I negotiate them starting my GC process early?
For context: because of my transfer abroad for visa reasons I am only making 3K/month (no perks, rent is 50% of that), will not be getting the US bonus (not even pro-rated), local bonus will be pro-rated and it’ll come to only about $100, I am still exclusively working with NY/US offices.

GC? I have no idea what your post is about.

Green Card

How are you coming back on L1A? Most biglaw firms I know take the position that non-partner attorneys don’t qualify for the more stringent L1A requirements and bring attorneys back only on the L1B (which doesn’t have the green card benefits). Also $100 bonus? Lmao at that point they might as well keep it.

Yes, because you don’t get to skip the labor wage determination step like you do with the L1A. Also, the L1A has most of the same requirements as the EB1 visa, so a lot of the paperwork to establish yourself as having managerial responsibilities will already be done.

Idk, but my firm brings people on L1A is what I was told 🤷🏻‍♀️ and LOL agreed on the bonus

Hello Fishes,

Are the below offers on par with the market standards as a data engineer?
YOE : 4
C CTC : 9
Offers:
1. Synopsys(17L + 2L VP + 3L JB + RSU - 10K USD)
2. MAQ : 15L
3. Optum : 15L
After browsing this portal, got to know Synopsys is paying good for this role. Any suggestions?

Can I ask more as I'm looking for longer association(if yes, what should be the approach considering that the other offers are less than this) and any idea about the hike percentage in Synopsys?

Why is education deemed more valuable on a pay scale than experience? Employers will pay someone with a degree and no experience a greater salary, than someone who has exhibited the experience. Understanding that the degreed person committed to school and finished, yet that doesn't diminish what the not degreed has committed to and accomplished in their careers. This has to stop!

I’m in-house at a small company (60 people), started right out of law school about 5 years ago. We had a legal team of 5 then. Everyone has left and we just hired a new GC. I went from $70k to $100k a little over a year ago. I am expecting an offer from a firm doing business law work but think this might be an opportunity to go to my current employer and ask for a significant raise, with new offer in hand. Any thoughts or advice going into this?

Sadly, it's being driven into the ground so hard by stakeholders that I have no love left for it. It's slowly becoming an embarrassment.
